I recently took the Global Arts Outreach Project to deliver a program in European Art History and Creative innovation for 13- 17 year olds, at the Gurpuri Foundation Malaysia; an organisation that provides shelter and education for underprivileged, orphaned and neglected children and teenagers.

We looked at the work of some leading figures in European Art History and then the class set about creating their own inventions which they presented to one another at the end of the session, each one unique and diverse.
The girls made some vibrant 3D collages inspired by the famous cut outs of 20th century French Artist Henri Matisse who created his own colourful and unique form of art towards the latter part of his life. As we enjoyed the session together we discussed the future, and the girls shared their aspirations and curiosity. At the end of the session, the we shared the work with one another and were amazed at the unique collages that each individual had created.

Many thanks to the Gurpuri Foundation, for their kindness and hospitality. We hope to bring the project back in the future. We have learned so much from your community and hope that you enjoyed learning from us too!
