It is a privilege to take the Global Arts Outreach Project to work with Nurture the Children Foundation (Philippines) at the beginning of May where I will be delivering An Exploration in Texture arts program for young children some of whom have special needs or are suffering trauma.
It is difficult for the youth in the Philippines to break out of cycles of poverty. Extreme poverty not only means lack of formal education and having to fight for resources, but it can also mean neglect and abuse, often resulting in drugs or crime.
Organisations such as Care for Children (The Netherlands) and Nurture the Children Foundation (Philippines) are working to change this. Originally set up by a group of friends who joined forces to make a donation for food supplies some twenty five years ago, Care for Children have now developed Nurture the Children Foundation, concentrating on improving the lives of children up to the age of 18 in local orphanages.
Nurture the Children Foundation of Pampanga focuses on children with mental and physical challenges, introducing new methods of care such as music therapy, therapy for trauma victims and support for abused children. The foundation is continuously growing with new projects to help reintegrate children with special needs back into society, regaining self-confidence as productive members of the community.
Please have a look at the Care for Children website on the link below and support them if you can.
